The Masonic Lodge of Marion is a good point of observation. The Durantia Mansion is the Durant family residence now open for visitors. Marion Courthouse is right in the city center. US Route 76 directly takes you there. The Old Opera House is a must see for its grandeur and detailed etchings. Plantations and Mansions are the specialties of Marion. If you are not into history then visit the Waccamaw Wildlife refuge. It is national protected area but is open to visitors. The entire park is spread on the shores of PeeDee River. It is famous for the long leaf Pine trees. The Red Cockaded woodpecker is another rare sighting.
