Named after Dr. John Shackelford, this community of more than 3300 inhabitants welcomes hundreds of visitors every June, during the amazing Fort Griffing Fandangle musical production presentations. Established in the 1870s, this land is served by four major highways: US Highway 180, US Highway 283, State Highway 6, and State Highway 351. With a total land area of more than 910 square miles, this territory shares borders with Throckmorton, Stephens, Eastland, Callahan, Jones, and Haskell Counties.
