Manila District Court

Manila District Court is essentially the district court of Daggett county in the Eight Judicial district of Utah.

Daggett county is located on the Northern slope of the Uinta Mountains. It lies along the Wyoming state line on the North and the Colorado state line on the East. As the nineteenth century began this area was still occupied by the Shoshoni and the Utes. If you visit Clay Basin and Brown's Hole, along the Green river, in Winter you are apt to see migratory animals where once prehistoric Indian groups took refuge. From 1820 on; the area was visited by trappers and explorers and livestock owners visited Daggett county in the Summer to graze their sheep and cattle. However, in the 1890's some early settlers introduced irrigation to the area. This attracted farmers and their families and permanent settlement began.
