Many of the people visiting Arlington will want to pay a visit to Arlington National Cemetery where thousands of our veterans are buried. The memorials in this cemetery include the Tomb of the Unknowns, the Challenger Space Shuttle Memorial, and the gravesites of John F. and Robert Kennedy. Another awesome sight is the Air Force Memorial built to honor the men and women of the U.S. Air Force and whose three stainless steel spires reach almost 300 feet in height. Speaking of awesome the Pentagon, headquarters of the US Department of Defense, will simply floor you. Even a guided tour, available with a reservation, takes a 1 1/2 mile walk. To give you an idea of its size, the Pentagon is the world’s largest low-rise office building. the Arlington Historical Museum is located in the oldest school building in Arlington County, the Hume school. Its Civil War memorabilia and artifacts are part of a permanent exhibit on the Civil War.
