If you are an aviation buff and even if you are not one, but want to see a bit of American history be sure to visit the Virginia Aviation Museum in Henrico. This facility has on display the SR-71 Blackbird; over 30 historic, vintage aircraft; reproductions of the Wright brothers’ kite, gliders and famous 1903 Flyer; early flight memorabilia; a World War II diorama; and the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame. One of the exhibits is dedicated to Admiral Richard E. Byrd. The gardens once owned by a tobacco entrepreneur now constitute the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. This site is a vast complex with the North Terrace, Four Seasons, Healing, Fountain, Asian Valley, The Henry M. Flagler Perennial, Martha and Reed West Island, Grace Arents, Children's, Lucy Payne Minor Memorial, Margaret Streb Conifer and the Vienna Cobb Anderson Meadow gardens in addition to The Conservatory, Lotus Bridge and Arbor Walkway all of which make for a very enjoyable and fragrant day.
