The largest of Montgomery's communities besides Amsterdam, this court still isn't very busy as it is on the north side of the river with no Thruway.

A fairly small town on the Mohawk River to the west of Amsterdam that includes several hamlets and the village of Fonda, Montgomery's county seat. People interested in the area's history can visit www.rootsweb.com/~nyherkim/mohawk.html, a nice webpage with lots of information. The Fonda Fairground and Speedway is near Exit 28 on the Thruway. The Mohawk River can be quite beautiful, especially with the leaves in autumn. County Court is within the town as well.
