About the area

Russellville, the county seat of Franklin County, has a rather large population for a city in this neck of the woods; over 8900 people spread out over more than 13 square miles of land area. Around the 1812 war, the American government provided funds for a route from New Orleans to Nashville, to be called Jackson’s Military Road, which passed through what is now known as Russellville. The city was then named for an early settler of the area who was a military officer and assisted in the road's construction. The Russellville High School Golden Tigers Athletics program fields exciting teams in the major sports acting as amagnet for sports enthusiasts in town.
