Jasper Circuit Court is the Fourteenth Circuit Court of Newton county in the Arkansas Judicial Circuit court system. It has the same clerk, mailing address, phone number, fax number and street address as the Jasper County court which is the county court of Newton county.

If you travel through Newton county, especially the Buffalo River corridor at Boxley Valley, Steel Creek, Kyle's Landing, Erbie, Ozark and Pruitt, you might see the herd of over 400 Elk that roam the county giving rise to the title of Elk Capital of Arkansas for the county. To celebrate this title the
annual Buffalo River Elk Festival is held late in June in Jasper. At this event artists, crafters, and other vendor selling their work as well as Elk Permit drawings. The festival also features the Arkansas State Championship Elk Calling Contest, Arkansas' Premier Dutch Oven Cook-off, live entertainment and a fishing derby.
