Biscoe District Court is one of the district courts in the Southern district of Prairie county. US 70 and SR 33 meet right in the center of Biscoe and then run together to the Southwest.
About the area
The federal government took an interest and surveyed the land in the area first called Surrounded Hill around 1849. It was then also called Buck's Horn before officially becoming Biscoe. An enterprising business man, gaining title to the land in town, subdivided part of his property and started selling lots in what he called Fredonia around 1880. plots were being recorded in the area up to and just after the turn of the century. The Memphis and Little Rock railroad was completed through Surrounded Hill years earlier around 1870 and the towns first significant industry was timber with the establishment of a spoke plant and stave mill. Cotton soon followed with cotton gins opening in the town.
