Fort Smith is fortunate to have Arkansas’ oldest symphony orchestra which performs concerts throughout the year. The Fort Smith Little Theatre, a long running all-volunteer community theatre presents several dramatic and musical productions during the year. The Belle Grove Historic district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, consists of a group of restored homes representing over 100 years of home construction and architectural styles in this city. The Fort Smith Convention center has recently been expanded and updated. It now has a theater seating over 1,300 people and close to 40,000 square feet of exhibition space that can be converted to arena style seating for up to 4,800 and a number of smaller meeting rooms. The center often plays host to conventions, consumer shows and concerts.
