US 54 which runs past many towns in Kansas also passes just North of Moran and intercepts US 59 which runs through the town.

About the area

This city got its start as many others in this area did through the construction of railroads and when in the Summer of 1881, the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company built a railway through Allen county it went close to the middle of Marmaton Township enabled by the issuance of bonds by the citizens of the township. However two competing factions surveyed opposite sides of the track; each recorded as Moran. However the sides grew together as a single community and soon enjoyed a healthy growth. The Moran Days celibration which is held each September kicks off with a parade in which everybody takes part.
