Wakefield is located on the banks of Milford lake and as a result its residents have easy access to it for boating and fishing. Wakefield City Park, located along the lake, has a playground, ball diamond, volleyball, horseshoe pits, basketball court and swimming pool. Also within the park you will find camping sites equipped with Electric and water hook-ups. In addition the area has a dump station, toilet and showers, boat ramp, picnic area and playground. Just South of Wakefield there is a great place to visit, the Kansas Landscape arboretum. This area which covers over 190 acres has more than 1,000 species of native and exotic woody plants many left in there Native vegetation. It is also possible to spot wildlife and several species of birds here.
