The Winfield Fairgrounds are located along the along the banks of the Walnut River. Visitors to the site can pitch a tent here and enjoy seeing the deer, wild turkey, and other wildlife native to South Central Kansas. Facilities are provided for campers. More importantly the fairgrounds are the site of a number of events held throughout the year. Among these are the Kansas Good Sams rally in April, the Cowley County Classic Steer & Heifer show also in April, the Retirees Sunchasers Chapter RV rally in May, the Winfield Garage Gearfest in June, the K and O Steam & Gas Engine show in August, the Walnut Valley Festival in September and the World Karting Association Grand Nationals also in September.
