Cherryvale was one of the first cities to put prohibition into effect; but thta did stop folks around here from getting a drink; it set off bootlegging around the area of Cherryvale. You would expect a city named Cherryvale to have a Cherry Blossom festival and it does. This annual event in May is a little different; it is held in conjunction with Vivian Vance Day which honors the actress who was born in Cherryvale and became famous playing Ethel Mertz in the I Love Lucy TV show. The festival has an Antique and Custom Car show, antique tractors, kids' carnival, arts and crafts, more than 150 exhibitors, a food court with lots of different kinds of good food and live music all day.
