About the area

The main campus of the University of Maine Augusta is located in Augusta and is part of the University of Maine System. The University offers baccalaureate and select associate degrees; based on a common liberal arts core for all degree programs, to provide professional programs to non-traditional and traditional students. Augusta Youth Memorial park, which has tennis courts and ball fields, was named for high school seniors who died in the late 1970’s. Capitol Park, which was first established in the 1820’s, exhibits over 70 species of native trees and over 20 species of exotic trees in addition to varieties of shrubs and ferns. The park is also the site of Maine Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
