| About the area |
Part of the land granted to a settler by President John Tyler around 1843 is present day Trimble. About 48 years later, the settler's sons laid out a town on the land inherited from him and called the town Carpenter's Store for their family name and general store. Some short years later, an attorney convinced the people of the town to have it incorporated and renamed for him. Smithville Lake State Wildlife area, located a short distance to the Northeast of Trimble has camping sites, a boat launch and opportunities for canoeing and game hunting. |
