Knob Noster Municipal Court

SR J runs through the center of Knob Noster, SR 132 comes up from the South running along the WEster edge of town to meet US %O which passes through the Northern part of town, SR D runs along the Eastern edge of town and SR 23 comes from the North to run along the Western edge of town.

You just have to wonder how this town got its name of Knob Noster. It got its name around 1850 when the post office was established, actually one mile North of the present town, from the combination of the word for hills, Knob, and the Latin derivation for "our" to come up with our hills or Knob Noster for the hills in the area. Around 1860, when the Missouri Pacific Railroad made its way into the area, a landowner who owned land in town where the railroad would go; would not give up his land. Another landowner, with land to the South was cooperative and the town was moved one mile South. Whiteman Air Force base is located just Southwest of the town. Knob Noster State park, to the West of town, is made up of mixture of prairie, open woodland and forest with a creek running through the center of it all. It’s a place where fishermen, mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders have plenty of room to their thing.
