About the area

Located just to the North of the town is City Lake Park which not only is the site of the lake providing the city's drinking water but also is the place to fish or enjoy the playground, picnic area, pavillions and hiking trails. Memorial Park is the site of the municipal pool, Teen Town and a pavillion. The Azalea Festival is held at Jaycee park and the Madison County Fair is held at Wanda Priest Park. The annual Azalea Festival is held at the beginning of May. It features a carnival, a parade and live music as well as other activities. The Madison County fair has live music, livestock and poultry shows, Antique Tractor and Professional Truck pulls and lawnmower races as well as lots of food. It takes place early in October of each year.
