Hannibal with its population of close to 18,000 is one of the largest cities in the state and lies on the Mississippi river. Lover's Leap and Cardiff Hill provide excellent views of the river. The annual two day Autumn Historic Folklife festival is held in late October. This event has artists, artisans and craftsmen demonstrating and selling historic crafts, traditional arts, fine arts and crafts. Musicians roam the streets
playing traditional tunes, you can find food cooked on wood stoves and cider fresh from the apple press. The city sponsors a Music Down By The River Summer Concert Series at the Y-Men's Pavillion located in Historic downtown and there are concerts at the Hannibal LaGrange University Roland Fine Arts Center. The university, a college awarding the Bachelor's degree in several majors and the Master of Science in Education, calls this city home. Two riverboats, American Queen and Queen of the Mississippi visit the city stopping at Glascock's Landing.
