Since SR 184 runs down the center of Collins, residents have access to it from all streets in town as well as being able to use it to reach US 49 which meets it in the Western part of town and from it, US 84 to the Northwest of town.

About the area

Williamsburg, about two miles from the present site of Collins was incorporated in the early 1800's when sawmills were the big industry. When the Gulf and Ship Island railroad was built it missed the town of Williamsburg and passed through the present site of Collins. To take advantage of the railroad the sawmills moved near that site. The town moved along with the mills and was renamed Collins. Grand Paradise Water Park is located near the crossroads of Highways 84 and 49 in Collins. The park has its Water Fort with tipping buckets, water curtains, wheels a turning and slides; Waddleland for the small kids with slides and splash fountains; Tropical Splash with its huge slide and Grand Falls which rises 4 stories above the park.
