Laurel's Central Historic district which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has the state's largest and most intact ensemble of early 20th century architectural styles which even includes the Craftsman style. Laurel has the greatest number of intact examples of this style in the state of Mississippi. Wisteria Home is located in the heart of the historic district and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This home was built of of cypress and heart pine around 1900 for one of Laurel's founding fathers and an owner of Eastman-Gardiner Lumber company.
