You know the American Indians were smart. To provide for their needs they settled in the area because of the vegetation and wildlife which existed in abundance here. The Chickasaw and Chief Greewood Leflore's Choctaw Indian nations were the tribes who settled here; and at the beginning of the 1830's Chief Greewood Leflore signed the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek deeding the area to European settlers.
