The Madison Land Company encouraged people to move from the North by offering land at low prices causing further growth of the town. Madison is a "Certified Retirement City" and considered to be one of the best retirement locations in the country in addition to being chosen as one of the "Top Ten Cities to Raise a Family," by Family Circle Magazine.
