About the area

Had you been a soldier at Fort Adams, near Woodville, at the beginning of the 19th century; you would have have been one of the first settlers of the city. Incorporated several years later, its business district is built around a square in the center of which stands the courthouse. Near a corner of the square the old Bank of the State of Mississippi, organized over 170 years ago stands. The building is now owned by the Woodville Civic Club and is now being restored.
