About the area |
In this diamond of the Glen Falls metro area, the Victorian style and Old american style houses, mixed with the modern architecture. The Town of Fort Edward was born back in the 1800's. The Argyle Central School, house of "The Scots" represents the cheering spirit in this community. The school promotes the appreciation of the town´s agriculture and the dairy production industry, it brings a sense of pride to the residents of this humble society.
Originally part of Albany County, this section was became Charlotte County, and then renamed Washington County. With many of the original settlers from Scotland, not surprisingly, they named the town for a place back home. One area, know as The Hook, catered to riders on the coach road with hotels & taverns. Argyle was the childhood home of mystery writer Julia Spencer-Fleming, who used her home town to create ficticious Millers Kill. |
