Texas City has the third largest refinery in the U.S., where they pump out over 10 million gallons of gas per day. With the gas price where it is right now, that's a ton of money produced out of this small city. In 2005 there was a fatal explosion that killed 15 and injured hundreds at this plant. We can only imagine the lawsuits.
At least at some point in the past, Texas City tended to have a ripe odor to it from all the oil and chemicals, but it may be better nowadays. |
