| About the area |
Those who traveled the Old Spanish Trail and mountain men visited the area and were among the first to have seen it. The Southern Exploring company also came to the area during the Winter 1850. At the beginning of 1864 a group of men settled in the Richfield area; however they abandoned the area when the Black Hawk War, there were violent encounters with the Ute indians. In 1870 settlers returned to the area. The Ridhfield City pool is an indoor facility with two large pools for laps and free free swim.The Richfield Municipal airport has a new runway over 6,600 feet in length and 75 feet wide. The airport is equipped with equipment for instrument landings.
