This town covers just over 1 square mile in area and is inhabited by approximately 700 people whose median household income is pretty low. The Southern West Virginia Horseman`s association holds its annual West Virginia Racking & Walking Championship show each July at its showgrounds in Danville. Just North of Danville there is one of the West Virginia covered bridges built in the 1800's across Rock creek. Although no longer open to vehicular traffic pedestrians can still walk across it.
