Two museums in Glenville are located in historic buildings. The Holt House History Center museum is housed in the the Holt House an early 20th century home circa 1903. It has permanent and temporary exhibits of historical items that relate to Gilmer County and West Virginia. One of its permanent collections is of military memorabilia and Veterans' information. The Country Store Museum was built at the beginning of the last decade of the 19th century. The building itself is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are many historical pieces of the region in this museum and if yoiu visit you will see the original decorative tin ceiling. Just don't try to visit this museum in the Winter; it does not have any heating and is closed during that time. Three other old buildings you might want to visit are the Queen Anne style with its octagonal tower and classical porches; Job’s Temple a hand-hewn log church building built after the Civil War and the Cedarville School with its stucco covered exterior and school bell in the yard.
