If you want to go through Fort Payne, you will probably want to take US 11 which is merged with SR 7; both of which merge with SR 35 for part of their run through the city.

If you've heard of the group Alabama and like their music you will want to go to the Alabama Headquarters which houses a museum featuring memorabilia from the famous country group. You will be able to view the group's many awards and achievements as well as collections from the group members and shop in the souvenir shop. The Little River as it runs along the top of Lookout Mountain defines the Little River Canyon National Preserve. Along the river there are waterfalls and pools as well as deeply carved sandstone cliffs standing up to 600 feet above the waterline. The river is surrounded by a lush forest with a lot of wildlife and there is an 11 mile long scenic road along the the river, with pullouts for scenic overlooks, picnic spots and trailheads. You might want to take a short hike down to the river itself or try ATV riding and horseback riding in the park's backcountry area.
