Gassville District Court

Gassville District Court is a state district court. Us 62 runs through Gassville and meets SR 126 and SR 345 at about the middle of town.

This town is near a bend in the White river which the resembles the neck of a Turkey and when it was first settled in the 1840's it was known as Turkey’s Neck. The location near the river made its location ideal for shipping farm crops to market and people started building their homes in the area. Around 1869 a group of families came to the settlement from Cherokee County, Georgia joining an earlier arrival from that area who had opened a cotton gin and a blacksmith shop in town. Within 8 years a large, popular general store opened in town followed a couple of years later by a hotel, a millinery shop, a drugstore, two blacksmith shops, two churches, a bank, a two-story academy and a canning factory. In June, the city holds its Annual Gassville in the Park festival at City park. The event has a parade, live music, food, a car show, swap meet, arts and crafts booths, kids activities and a display of motorcycles.
