Rison District Court is the state district court in Cleveland county. SR 133 running through Rison meets SR 35 and US 79 in town.

About the area

With the construction of the Texas and St. Louis railroad Rison was born and it was incorporated around 1890. The production of cotton, lumber and a variety of wood products, major factors in the town's economy, was made viable with the existence of the railroad. Cotton gins operated in town and the surrounding area and residents owned and operated a dozen or more sawmills. However, all this disappeared just before World War II and many residents took war related jobs in nearby towns. The old economy did not reappear.
