The Kauffman Museum in this city has some very interesting exhibits. There is a tallgrass prairie reconstruction displaying over 15 species of grasses and more than 100 wildflower species. An exhibit dedicated to the Mennonite influence has displays representing the experiences of the Mennonites when they came from Europe to the central plains in the 1870s. A reconstruction of an historic farmstead with heritage flower and vegetable gardens planted around the 1875 Voth-Unruh-Fast House and the 1886 Ratzlaff Barn is an exhibit which draws a lot of attention. Handcrafted pieces of furniture that were brought by Mennonites from Prussia, Poland and South Russia to the Great Plains of North America or built by their first-generation descendants from the Kauffman's official Save America’s Treasures project collection are on exhibit. In addition there are special exhibitions which are changed periodically, displaying either art work or photogaphy from noted artists.
