The Gold Dust Hotel, circa 1885, epitomizes the charming architecture of the late 19th century. It is listed on the National Historic Register and now houses the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce on its renovated first floor. To salvage another item of the history of the town; one of its residents salvaged the clockworks from the 1886 courthouse when it was demolished. These clockworks have been installed in a clocktower erected on the town square in the 1960's. You can see the enormous antique clockworks through the windows of the tower so that the paddles and gears are visible as they turn and the clock chimes on the hour.
