Bangor is sizeable in population, with about 31,000 people squeezed into approximately 34 square miles. The Penbscot river winds its way through the city. As befits a city with lots of people; Bangor has its International airport. Bangor International Airport is a refueling and customs stop for flights from Europe and out of the United States. It has a single runway over 11,000 feet in length. The Bangor Symphony Orchestra, a community orchestra, has been continuously performing longer than any other similar orchestra in the United States. Its concerts are given at the Maine Center for the Arts at the University of Maine in nearby Orono. For nature lovers; Littlefield Ornamental Gardens is the place to visit.
