| About the area |
At one time the area that is now Morehuse was underwater in the Mississippi river; however the river changed course leaving behind a low, wide river bed and Morehouse was established just above where the Castor and Little rivers converge. Morehouse was not the first settlement in the area. It was preceded by settlements in the adjacent Morehouse Lowlands to the northwest and west which was first settled around 1840 followed by another settlement around 1843 and again in the mid 1860's. |
