About the area

The Hollywood Plantation in Benoit is Bolivar County's last antebellum plantation home. The construction on this home was started in the late 1850's but as late as the beginning of the Civil War was still unfinished. In fact the second story door lacks a balcony. This is not uncommon for homes built so late in the antebellum period. Hollywood is famous as the setting of "Baby Doll" a film produced in the 1950's. .
