Charleston Justice Court is the Tallahatchie County Judicial District 1 Justice Court.
About the area
In the early 1900s, a benefactor and preservationist, in order to reverse the disrepair of houses built in the mid 1770's, purchased a section of houses on East Bay Street in Charleston and painted them pastel pink based on a colonial Caribbean color scheme. Other owners in the area followed her lead and painted their houses in pastels which is still the way they are painted to this day causing the street to be named Rainbow Row. In the commercial heyday of Charleston; these houses were the center of the city's commerce within which merchants had stores on the first floor and lived on the floors above.
