Halcott is located in the Catskill Mountains, and borders on the west and south by Delaware County and north and east by a range of mountains from Bearpen Mtn to Halcott Mountain. The 2000 census had a population under 200 people.
There is only one main road into Halcott, Route 3. Because of its isolation, there are not many travellers \"passing through\". It is very much a stereotypical isolated town that does not see much outside traffic & visitors.
