Nearing the end of his term, former Magistrate Donald Presutti was charged with concealing a gun without a license. He was consequently suspended and the case carried over into his retirement in 2005. Hon. Tara Smith, who lost to Presutti by 465 votes in 1999, finally secured her place on the bench. She brings to the Court her experience growing up in Avalon, 17 years as an administrator in Allegheny County`s minor judiciary, and several years managing the anatomy lab in the University of Pittsburgh`s Neurobiology Department. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in Administration of Justice at the University of Pittsburgh, and hopes to develop innovative programs for first-time juvenile offenders.

About the area

The Court covers a lot of ground along the Ohio River, with Bellevue having the most notable business district, along with the borough of Avalon. If you visit, make sure not to park within 20 ft. of a cross walk: it`s punishable by fine/tow and frequently imposed. But try to enjoy the scenic river views.

Nov 11 2010 02:19:33: As an employee of a realty company, I frequently interact with this court. I routinely find most of the clerks there to be extremely rude, and uninformed. As for Judge Smith, she seems to be not only uneducated in the realty laws and regulations in Pennsylvania, but also extremely biased. If it is not absolutely necessary, Iwould recommend staying as far away from this court as possible!
May 21 2010 21:54:02: recently I went to tara smiths office to take care of a simple $10.00 parking ticket I was told I'd have to talk with tara about this then a young girl came in with same problem and she was taken care of right there at the glass counter from a overweight short haired lady I then got up and ask I want the same consideration the girl got the lady got angry for she knew right then and there I buster her discriminating against me the room was full of waiting defendents, ect and they all were my witness to this, hence my parking ticket was taken care of by another lady on the spot... I hope tara gets wind of this so she knows what kind of people she has working for her... LADY PUT THE FORK DOWN...
Mar 09 2009 01:10:56: Donald H. Presutti served as District Justice for 30 years and won the approval of the majority of voters in five elections. He served with honor and integrity and honesty. It is unfortuante that people today ignore 30 years of excellent public service of Donald H. Presutti.
Aug 31 2007 13:53:29: tara smith is a racist. her staff are all caucation women. She has a double standard. The rich can afford her ruleings and the poor go to jail. she has no regard for the working class. we must vote her out and get a fair judge in Bellvue.
