Listed on the National Register of Historic Places; the Shumaker-Lewis House is a two story Victorian-era frame cottage built around 1885 which has a two tier Eastlake Movement style porch. It now serves as the office of the Mason City Historical Society. As part of the porch you can expect to see spindlework, perforated bargeboards and pediments, carved panels and highly ornamental moldings. For an afternoon of challenging golf visit the 18 hole Riverside Golf Club course located to the East of town. The course measures over 6,200 yards and has a low par rating.
