Just a few miles west of where the Oregon and Sante Fe Trails parted, the town of Edgerton was settled. The coming of the Santa Fe Railroad to it gave life to this town. Now the Burlington Northern Santa Fe's transcontinental line runs through the community leading to the development of the new 1,000 acre "inland port" connecting Edgerton and the Kansas City metropolitan area with trade from the Pacific Rim. Martin Creek Park's over 20 acres is always humming with its softball fields, tennis courts, volleyball court, basketball court, soccer field, half mile walking trail and horseshoe pits. Edgerton Lake Park located on the west side of Edgerton City Lake is the picture of serenity. The park designed for passive usage, with activities that include fishing, canoeing and small boating.
