If you remember your ride on a carousel, you will delight in a visit to the C. W. Parker Carousel Museum where you can ride on a restored antique Parker carousel. Parker produced more carousels in Leavenworth than any other city in the United States. In addition to the restored 1913 carousel there are two other carousels in the museum; one is a hand cranked, wooden carousel, built around 1860 and the other a 1950 carousel sporting aluminum horses. Artifacts, horses, photos and letters complete the exhibits in this museum. The story of Fort Leavenworth from about 1827 to 1917 and the history of the frontier Army around 1804 and on can be found in the exhibits of the Frontier Army Museum. Exhibits of uniforms, weapons and equipment used during the fort's early days are prominently displayed.
