Between 300 to 400 people live in this small town near the border with Simpson and Smith counties. The town history can be traced back to the 1830's when the name of the town was Clear Creek. The name was changed to Puckett in honor of one of the early settler families when it was found that a post office existed with the name Clear Creek. The early settlers came from Alabama.
