The city of Thompson was founded around 1881. Southbrook park is equipped with playground facilities, baseball diamonds, picnic areas, horshoe pits and an enclosed shelter building. There has been a growing enrollment of students in this towns school district some due to the South Grand Forks area. As a result the school district many soon be experiencing an expansion of its facilities.
