Amityville is a village within the Township of Babylon and probably best known for its dubious association with the purported demonic possession of one of its former residences by unhappy Native Americans buried beneath its foundation. It is also the birthplace of Rick Lazio, a former congressman and prospective 2010 GOP candidate for Governor of New York State.
