About the area

Originally named "Hebe" but evolved into Gainesville in honor of General Edmund Pendleton Gaines. The residents of this town preserved their history not only on their goverment building and churches; but throughout books such as the "Town of Gainesville" by Rutherford. The town faced an historical loss back in the 1940s when a terrible church fire destroyed death records.

The Town Court operates with two individuals: The Town Justice and the Court clerk. John Proper has been the Town´s Justice since January 1, 2006. He has jurisdiction over vehicle and traffic, criminal, civil and small claims cases brought before the Court.
