The Town of Truxton is noted for exceptionally fertile bottom lands. Over half the farm land is owned by families who have worked the land for many generations. The land is criss-crossed by many streams, both large and small, as well as the Tioughnioga River, which has excellent fishing. Solon Pond is also a notable fishing spot.
