| About the area |
Named after General John Sullivan. Part of this territory gave birth to the Town of Lenox and this town itself got part of the Town of Cazenovia to complete its settlement process back on the late 1700's. The Erie Canal passed through this town and brought prosperity to the region. The Village of Chittenango is contained within this town. It was the birthplace of L. Frank Baum, author of the Wizard of Oz. The north part of the town is bordered by the Oneida Lake.
