The Sullivan Expedition traveled through the area in 1779. They fought the Iroquois and British so they could gain the land. The Iroquois were pushed out and the British defeated. The area is near many water ways which made it easier for the Sullivan expedition to travel. Believe it or not, this is where Giants Coach Tom Coughlin comes from.
